Campus Safety & Security Meeting Minutes

January 31, 2025

Members Present:  Myisha Cutrona, Heather del Rosario, Gustavo Gonzalez, Julian Martinez, Monserrat González

Call to Order:      

The Taft College Campus Safety & Security meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m.

Minutes – October 18, 2024 & December 13th, 2024:

The minutes for the October 18th and December 13th, 2024 meetings were approved by consensus.

Campus Crime Log:

There have been no new incidents reported since the last meeting.

Workplace Violence Incidents:

There have been no new incidents reported since the last meeting.

Committee Self-Evaluation

The members present reviewed the 2023-2024 Annual Committee Review Self-Evaluation Form, which was distributed electronically to all committee members on January 30th, 2024. The following changes were proposed:

  • Section I: Committee Meetings (2023-2024) – The number of meetings listed was noted to be incorrect. Jessica has been assigned to investigate and ensure the review reflects the accurate number of meetings.
  • Section II: Analysis of Prior Year Goals – A fourth goal, 'Rave Mobile,' was added with 'Yes' marked under the 'Completed' category.
  • Section V: 2024-25 Goals – Goal five was added “Update of Evaluation Plan & related trainings by area & incident type. Create video on safety measures for students with subtitles and include in student orientation.”
  • Section VI: Committee Membership for 2024-2025 – Saul Acosta was removed as the Student Representative and replaced by Monserrat González.

Charter Revision

The members present reviewed the Campus Safety and Security Committee Charter, which was distributed electronically to all committee members on January 30th, 2024. The following revisions were proposed:

  • Under the heading 'Specific Responsibilities,' item number 10 was added to state, 'Recommend, review, and promote campus-wide safety training.'
  • Under the heading 'Meeting Scheduling, Agendas, and Minutes,' the second, third, and fourth sentences concerning the safety walk were removed.
