Taft College makes a college career, valuable technical training, and even dorm life attainable for all students. In addition to our low-cost education model, our generous financial aid program ensures that students have a wide range of scholarships and programs to help defray costs.
Residency and Tuition Rates
Did you know that tuition rates vary by residency? That means that California residents, out-of-state residents, and international students will likely pay different amounts:
- For California Residents, the fee is $46 per unit for lower-division enrollment fees.*
- A California Resident taking 15 lower-division units will pay $690 per semester.
- For Non-Residents, the fee is $46 + $406 per unit.*
- A Non-Resident taking 15 lower-division units will pay $6,090 per semester.
- For International Students, the fee is $46 + $406 + a one-time $100 admissions application fee.
- An International Student taking 15 lower-division units will pay $6,190 for the first semester and $6,090 for the second.
*For upper-division enrollment fees, there is an additional fee of $84 per unit on top of the $46 per unit.

Tuition and Fees Explained
Students residing in California will pay $46 per unit. To be considered a full-time student, you must take at least 15 units per semester. That means that your base tuition fee each semester will be $690.
If you choose to live on campus, there are additional fees for your lodging and your meals (19 meals per week). That fee is $3,665 per semester.
If you choose to rent your textbooks, you will pay 30% of the new book price.

- U.S. citizens and certain noncitizens are eligible for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). To apply for federal financial aid, including federal grants, work study, and loans, you need to complete the FAFSA®.
- If you are attending Fall 2021, Spring 2022 or Summer 2022, please complete the 2021-2022 FAFSA®.

- CADAA
- Undocumented students, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, and other noncitizens can receive financial aid through The California Dream Act Application (CADAA). CADAA is your pathway to private scholarships, state-administered financial aid, university grants, community college fee waivers, and Cal Grants.
- If you are attending Fall 2022 or later classes, please complete the current year CADAA.
- Taft College's CADAA School Code is 00130900.
- Scholarships
- Many scholarships are available to help fund your college experience, including awards from Taft College and private or outside scholarships. The college library is also an excellent source of information regarding scholarship opportunities.
- Work Study
- The Work Study program offers students the opportunity to earn money for college while gaining job experience. Eligibility is based on your financial aid need and enrollment status. All students are considered for employment in the work study program.
- Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
- To receive financial aid, you must continue to meet certain academic requirements. Read our Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy, so you always keep your financial aid eligibility in good standing.
