- Distance Learning Approvals
On a motion by M. Mayfield, seconded by M. Oja, and unanimously carried by all, consent items were approved.
- Discussion Items:
- August in-service training for all Faculty
The committee discussed the August in-service curriculum training. V. Jacobi will demonstrate curriculum revisions, curriculum inactivations, and new curriculum proposals. We will go over the entire process, from start to finish. K. Bandy shared her experience with the curriculum process. She feels this will benefit the entire committee but especially divisions that are “adjunct-heavy”. V. Jacobi hopes to have portions recorded in order to share with new faculty/adjuncts. V. Jacobi will cover the C-ID & articulation aspect of the curriculum process.
- DEI inclusion in course development
The Committee discussed the DEI element in future course development. A brief discussion was had on how it will fit in different types of courses. V. Jacobi talked about a general statement on every course. Divisions can create their own statement according to the area of study. The group acknowledged that not all divisions will have DEI elements in their curriculum. In those cases, faculty will do their best to go over Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion throughout the course (semester). K. Bandy suggested we include “DEI in course development” in our August in-service training. Divisions will bring forward any ideas they develop. This will be discussed in Aprils C & GE meeting.
- Dental Hygiene Administration Bachelors
- Minor shared an update on the Dental Hygiene Bachelors program. The C/O will only approve 15 programs. The C/O wants to make sure there is no duplication with CSU’s and UC’s. L. Minor hopes to hear something by mid-April 2023.
- C. AB 1111 update
A task force has been created in order to provide clarification on AB-1111. The task force will provide recommendations as well as support to all CC’s. The implementation deadline is Spring 2024; however, the taskforce will be asking for an extension. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
- AJOURNMENT
On a motion by B. Devine, seconded by V. Jacobi, Meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m.
- NEXT MEETING: April 13, 2023, 1:10 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
