  1. Discussion/Presentation Items:
  2. Course Outline of Record -Vicki

Jacobi started our annual certification training with the course outline. She shared the recommended elements identified by the PCAH 8th Ed. (Program Course Approval Handbook). Examples of essential elements are enrollment limitations, repeatability, field-trips, SLO’s, and textbooks, including open educational resources (OER). V. Jacobi also shared the required elements per Title 5. Elements include; Pre/Co-reqs, outside of class assignments, instructional methodology, and methods of evaluation. For the UC system, CORs provide a reading list, lab content (when applicable), as well as a lab manual. Requirements for CSU’s were also shared. Textbooks should not be older than seven years, COR-SLO’s, and learning activities outside of class are also required on all CORs.

  1. Timelines/Certification training

Jacobi covered the entire timeline of a COR/Program proposal. All new proposals must start with a Program in mind. From there, PSLO’s must be developed, course content is created. The Division chair will submit the proposal for Tech Review. Once approved at Tech Review, it moves onto our C & GE committee. The C & GE committee will discuss the proposal. If its approved, it moves onto our Board. After it receives Board approval, we submit to the C/O office.

  1. General Education Patterns
  2. DEIAA

Jacobi gave an update on the DEIAA workgroup. The workgroup is responsible for proposing new policies evaluating existing workflows, and best practices. Jacobi will continue to provide updates as they become available.

  1. General Education Learning Outcomes

GE patterns and outcomes were briefly discussed. Key differences between IGETC and the new CalGETC were mentioned. Oral communication, the arts and humanities requirement, and Ethnic Studies were among the key points. More information will be shared as soon as becomes available.

  1. Ethnic Studies

Jacobi gave an update on Ethnic Studies. Social Science has been developing curriculum they hope will meet Are F. Things are fluid and Jacobi thanked the committee for their commitment to this new bill. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

  1. Revisions to Title IV

The committee briefly discussed title 5 revisions. Said revisions do not require emergency action by our Campus. More info to follow.

  1. Update course outline of records for 2023-24 Five-year review
