The Interim Vice President of Student Services
Emmanuel “Manny” Villanueva Campos feels blessed to serve as the West Kern Community College District’s/Taft College’s Interim Vice President of Student Services.
Community service is a cornerstone of Manny’s life. In all aspects of his life, Manny strives to embody a servant's heart, seeking opportunities to give back and make a meaningful impact in his community.
Manny has served as a member of the West Kern Community College District’s Board of Trustees, leveraging his broad experience to contribute to a diverse array of educational initiatives. He’s an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Taft and the Rotary Club of Taft. He serves on the boards of two non-profit organizations in Taft, Diamond in the Rough Sports and Events and West Kern Oil Museum Foundation. He also consults on operations and finance for the West Side Recreation and Park District here in Taft.
Manny’s leadership roles in the Community of Taft have included service as president of the Taft Chamber of Commerce, member of the Taft Union High School Hall of Fame Committee, member of the Taft Union High School Oil Tech Academy Advisory Board, member of the Taft College Measure A Bond Citizens Oversight Committee, member of the City of Taft Citizens Oversight Committee, and member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church Finance Committee here in Taft.
English is Manny’s second language. Manny’s family arrived in the United States in 1988, and through hard work (both of his parents worked in agriculture) and persistence, he and the other members of his family navigated the path to residency and citizenship. Manny became a United States citizen in 2004.
Manny was the first in his family to graduate from high school and attend and graduate from college. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas, Permian Basin, and a Bachelor of Science from the Haas School of Business at the University of California (UC), Berkeley. Manny is a proud Taft Union High School alumnus!
During his time at UC Berkeley, Manny maintained a full course load, while working various jobs. He was involved in starting an after-school mentoring program at Berkeley High School and mentoring groups at McClymond High School in Oakland and Mission High School in San Francisco.
