On a motion by T. Mendoza, seconded by M. Mayfield, and unanimously carried by all, the PHED courses were approved.

On a motion by K. Bandy, seconded by B. Devine, and unanimously carried by all, the new MATH course was approved.

3. Jacobi gave an update on the draft to the Local pattern. Divisions were encouraged to review GE courses in their area and begin the SLO revision process. V. Jacobi reminded members that the SLO committee is now reviewing SLOs as part of the revision cycle. S. Eveland advised Division chairs to pull/ request SLOs through e-lumen in order to make sure the correct SLOs are being revised. The committee briefly discussed the difference between a “COR revision” and a “TAR” (textbook-adoption)”. A “revision” is an official course update, it goes through the SLO & DE/L approval, Tech Review, etc. The textbook adoption process only adds/deletes textbooks from courses.
4. Updates on AB 1111 & AB 928
5. Jacobi gave an update on AB 1111 & 928. Early Childcare Education & Elementary Teacher Prep degrees have issues because MATH 1505 will not be on the GE pattern. Students are having to take another 3-unit course in its place. The common course numbering system is moving along. CCC’s have until the summer of 2024 to comply. V. Jacobi gave a heads-up on the DEI component on the horizon. A DEI component can be embedded or included as a module. It should not be a check-box. A unit on how different cultures view the content in question can be an example of a DEI component. B. Devine asked if every division will have to create a “Universal Statement”, the answer is no. ASCCC is creating “Area/Discipline” groups with the goal to provide guidelines & resources to show specific examples. Links can be found on the ASCCC website.
6. Other

A new college credit acknowledgement program is in development through the State of California. This is being created for people that have developed “real-world” work experience through the years. Competency based Education. The process might include assessing the person. From there TC faculty can create modules to meet student’s needs. More information will follow.
