Welcome

Information Items

Kelly was approached by the California Community Living Network to collaborate on a potential Disability Services project that connects to more career and technical education. The Department of Developmental Services is the grant’s originator. Kelly shared interest in applying for the RFP for Independent Facilitator Certification. Unfortunately, because Taft College is a vendor of the regional center system, we are disqualified from applying for the RFP. 

Updates

Kristi shared Dental Hygiene is pushing to begin the bachelor’s program in fall 2024, and the application would open in March.

New Business

2.        Committee Charter & 2023-2024 Goals                                                            DISC/ACTION

The committee discussed one goal: Complete necessary updates related to CTE Work Experience regulations. Kelly motioned to approve the goal, and Steven seconded. Motion carried.

3.        Work Experience Education Regulations Revisions                                          DISC/ACTION

The committee will continue to work with Academic Senate to update review/update/develop AP 4103, BP 5102, AP/BP 4020, and AP/BP 4225. Sarah Criss to send league recommendations once they are available at the end of the month. These updates are in response to Title 5: 55250 Article 4-CTE Programs. TC currently has four work experience courses approved: WELD 1513, CTRP 1513, IES 1513, and ENER 1513.
