HonorLock: Taft College's Online Proctoring Tool


The department of Distance Education is excited to introduce HonorLock as our new proctoring service. HonorLock offers a seamless and secure online exam experience through a simple Chrome extension, eliminating the need for additional downloads.

When students encounter issues, HonorLock offers support and maintains a record of their communications. This means that if a student contacts you regarding an exam, HonorLock can provide you, the instructor, with a detailed record of their interactions with the student.

Steps to Success (or Enable)


  • Step 1: Enable HonorLock

    Go to Settings and click on the Navigation tab. Scroll to the bottom of the list of navigation links, find HonorLock 1.3, and click the ellipses to enable it. Finally, click Save.

  • Step 2: Authorize HonorLock

    Once you have enabled HonorLock 1.3. You need to authorize the tool. Click the "HonorLock 1.3" course link. Click Authorize to enable HonorLock in your course.

    After you "Authorize" HonorLock, all the quizzes you have created in your course will appear on the HonorLock page. You will then need to enable the specific quizzes you want to be proctored.

  • Step 3: HonorLock Settings

    HonorLock provides a range of settings for you to choose from, including but not limited to:

    • Record Webcam
    • Record Screen
    • Allowed Site URL's
    • Record Web Traffic
  • Step 4: HonorLock Chrome Extension

    HonorLock operates exclusively in Google Chrome. Both students and faculty must enable the free HonorLock Chrome Extension. Before enabling the extension, they must accept HonorLock's "Terms of Service."
