Welcome & Introductions
President Payne welcomed faculty.
Approval of Minutes
A motion to approve the corrected minutes was made by D. Jones with a 2nd from N. Cahoon with emailed corrections. The motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report
- Mitchell reported an overall balance of $17362.66 before lunch.
Taft College Faculty Collective Bargaining Committee (TCFCBC) Update:
- Academic Calendar 2024-2025
President Payne updated the faculty the subcommittee was formed at the last bargaining meeting. The subcommittee membership includes M. Mayfield, D. Mitchell, R. Payne and L. Minor.
- Teaching Dual Enrollment at TUHS contract language updated.
President Payne shared the drafted changes for the contract language and asked for ratification. M Oja made a motion, seconded by R. Polski. Motion carried with no abstentions.
- Coaching
President Payne reported that a subcommittee was formed to clear up the contract language regarding payment of coaches. The major issues cited were the inconsistency of payments and unclear language. Subcommittee members include A. Bledsoe, C. Flachmann, K. Bandy, H. Del Rosario, L. Minor, T. Hampton and D. Bell. Co-Chairs are A. Bledsoe and H. Del Rosario.
All faculty will be updated as the team works on the language and the topic will return to the Faculty Association for ratification.
Other:
President Payne shared that the Interim President position had been posted and shared that B. McMurray shared his intention to apply for the position. The selection process would include an interview with the Board and no screening committee. The length of the interim position could be limited to 2-years with an option for extension at the Chancellor’s Office approval.
President Payne reminded evaluated tenure track faculty of student evaluations and that that observations by Distance Education were limited to one course.
Chris Flachmann alerted 12-month faculty that there was a mistake on the retro pay and encouraged them to double check stubs for accuracy.
Darcy Bogle reminded and encouraged faculty to attend the annual Hall of Fame celebration on the weekend of November 12th. Tickets are $75.
