December 8, 2023

The attendance was corrected. On a motion by J. Rangel-Escobedo, seconded by A. Bledsoe, and unanimously carried by all, the minutes were approved, with attendance corrections.

On a motion by S. Eveland, seconded by T. Mendoza, the PHED courses were tabled;

Members in favor are; V. Jacobi, S. Eveland, T. Mendoza, J. Rangel-Escobedo.

Members not in favor; A. Bledsoe, V. Maiocco – for K. Bandy.

Members abstained; K. Richards, B. Devine

The new courses were tabled until the SLO committee has the opportunity to review corresponding SLOs

1. Science & Math Division
   1. MATH 1550      Precalculus & Trigonometry

A brief discussion was had regarding the SLOs. On a motion by V. Jacobi. seconded by S. Eveland, the MATH course was tabled;

Members not in favor; A. Bledsoe

Members abstained; B. Devine, V. Maiocco – for K. Bandy.

The new courses were tabled until the SLO committee has the opportunity to review corresponding SLOs.

The consent item below was a mistake. It was only meant to be a topic of discussion.

1. Local General Education

Discussion Items:

GE Local pattern

Jacobi gave a brief update on the changes coming. She shared a draft with proposed changes. The group shared their thoughts on where courses “could” fit in certain areas. The current proposed pattern would make the total unit value 24 Units. American History & Ideals was another proposed area. A. Bledsoe has some ideas and will be e-mailing them to V. Jacobi. V. Maiocco talked about the importance of keeping HLED on the local pattern. From his experience, students benefit greatly and it’s a vital course during their time at TC. B. Devine said it would be a good idea to have “Principles of Healthy Living” as well as a “Library Research” course in the Lifelong-Learning section. Division chairs were encouraged to continue this discussion in their areas. More info will follow.

AB 1111

AB 928

Jacobi gave an update on AB 1111 - Common course numbering system as well as AB 928. The deadline is still Summer 2024. TC will not have to re-submit our ADTs so long as the unit value doesn’t change. The C/O is calculating the volume of work & they anticipate an initial delay period.
